Vision & Values

Growing, achieving and flourishing together in mind, body and spirit.

Our vision:

To live a life in all its fullness we ‘grow achieve and flourish together in mind body and spirit’

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” John 15:5

Jesus says the way to be good and honest is to stay close to him like the branches attached to the tree. By staying close to Jesus, we become the leaves or fruit of the tree which enables us to…

grow, achieve and flourish together in mind, body and spirit.

Our Values - a Church School

The values that underpin our vision are respect, responsibility, resilience and relationships. These values thread through our school learning powers and form the strong foundation for our curriculum.

At St George’s, our vision and accompanying values form the foundations from which all pupils and adults, irrespective of their faith or background, can be successful and thrive. Our school is a place where everyone is able to flourish in a caring, supportive and safe environment; where we encourage trust in wisdom and guidance (Matthew 1:18-25) and resilience in the face of trials (James 1:12). We believe in being responsible by acting with integrity and taking ownership of our actions (Genesis 37-50) and treating others as you would like them to treat you (Matthew 7:12).

Our Christian vision is lived out in nurturing the Christian faith and ethos of the Church of England to enable all community members to develop spiritually, socially, intellectually and emotionally. Our vision underpins all of our policies, decision making and practices enabling individuals to live ‘life in all its fullness’. (John 10:10).

Collective Worship

Our Children come together to celebrate daily Collective Worship. Our Worships reflect the traditions of the Church of England and develop learners' understanding of Anglican traditions and practice as well provide time in the busy school day to be still, listen and reflect.

Collective worship gives pupils and school staff the opportunity to:

  • Engage in an act of community.
  • Express praise and thanksgiving to God.
  • Be still and reflect.
  • Explore the big questions of life and respond to national events.
  • Foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness.
  • Reflect on the character of God and on the teachings of Christ.
  • Affirm Christian values and attitudes.
  • Share each other's joys and challenges.
  • Celebrate special times in the Christian calendar.

Seasons of the Church Year

The school follows the Church of England calendar of events including; Harvest, Christmas, Epiphany, Mothering Sunday, Lent, Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost, and the Patron Saint feast day of our school namesake St George.

These are explored through RE and Worship with the school. The school as a whole, and the wider community coming together in celebration at different points throughout the year.

At Easter as we celebrate Eucharist; members of the wider school community are invited to come together to share a Communion Service.

Ascension Day is celebrated outside with a creative and visual telling of the ascension of Christ, and our school Harvest and Christingle services are held at St Margaret’s Church with the wider school community.

Ecumenical

St. George’s is in the parish community of St Margaret’s Church in Northam and works in partnership with other local churches, including Westward Ho! Baptist Church. Clergy from these churches are invited to lead our worship and be a part of our Ethos team.

Ventrus MAT

Ventrus (formerly The Primary Academies Trust) was set up in 2011 by a group of like minded headteachers who wanted to build a stable and secure platform from which they could grow a network of excellent schools.
